The 100mm HDPE geocell provides sufficient depth for commonly used road base aggregate. The 400mm weld distance creates medium-sized cells that provide a balance between efficient expansion and effective material confinement.
During road construction, HDPE geocell sections are expanded over the prepared subgrade and fixed before aggregate placement. Gravel or crushed stone is then filled into each cell and compacted to form a reinforced cellular layer. The cell walls of the HDPE geocell reduce sideways displacement of aggregate when the surface is exposed to vehicle loading.
Flexible high density polyethylene allows the HDPE geocell to adapt to moderate irregularities in the subgrade. Ultrasonic welding forms stable connections between strips and helps the expanded cells remain consistent during construction.
The HDPE geocell can be used for gravel roads, access roads, road shoulders, rural roads, parking surfaces, construction platforms and subgrade reinforcement. It is particularly useful where unconfined aggregate may experience rutting or lateral spreading under repeated loads.
